Barrington Levy & Jah Thomas - Tribute To Moa Anbessa / Nigger Kojak & Liza - Penitentiary (Nigger Kojak / Moa Anbessa)

This is a killer combination of Barrington Levy and Jah Thomas, produced by Floyed Anthony Perch (born 30th september 1959, Kingston JA) better known as Nigger Kojak, in 1980. He first started by the name of Pretty Boy Floyd doing stage shows in the Ghetto's (Waterhouse I suppose), but after cuttin' his hair his fans nicknamed him as Kojak and encouraged him to do recording, so he took the name of Nigger Kojak (source : back cover of Kojak & Liza Showcase LP).

No need to talk about Barrington Levy as I guess everybody know him, but Jah Thomas is less known than his partner of the cut, check this little bio/ itv made when Greensleeves released a 12" Rulers Compilation dedicated to his past productions...

I have added the Penitentiary cut as a bonus, it's on the same riddim
Produced by Nigger Kojak

These two vinyls were reissued and are still available in all good shop, so 128k or 192k is enough, if you like the cuts then go buy and support these reeditions !

Mr Vegas - Mus Come A Road (A-Team / Irish & Chin Music 2008)

This one is from 2008, it became a smash hit in all Dancehall charts over the world ! The cut samples Barrington Levy's Prison Oval Rock (1982).
Lyrics are about informer (or snitching), and it's the same all over the world, you enter prison as juvenile delinquants and if you survive when you got out you are tougher than when you entered and you learned more about "gangster" life !...

Vegas said to Yardflex :

"There are some people behind bars who have been charged for a
crime that is not as bad as the people who are in jail for murder,
and the murders sometimes get out before them," says Mr. Vegas
earnestly. "This song is for the people who have experienced that."

This is a Cd rip with the Dirty/Clean/Instrumental (rapidshare) versions but to visualize I put the 7" label scans...

This is a french magazine about Roots Reggae issued every two monthes. They started as a fanzine in 1995, then in 2000 it became a magazine distributed in the newstands. It's probably one, if not THE, best Reggae magazine ever ! Most of the issues are about 70's Roots Rock Reggae, sometimes they cover New Roots too, but don't ask about Dancehall at all ! Plus they are independant and they is no advertising in the magazine.

They met all the artists and labels that made Reggae History (no matter where they live now !) and always come with rare or never seen before photographies, like they did with the King Tubby's / Dub special issue with never seen before pics of Tubby courtesy of his daughter...

The Abyssinians - Satta Massa Gana / Lloyd Charmer - Charming Version (7" Clinch)

And of course I have to post the original Satta ! Almost original as this one is from around 1975 I think, according to matrix number CR 2853A and CR 2853B.
Like previous post label scans aren't the original ones here, but it's the Clinch Records labels of 1975 (and I don't like puttin' a link without the cover or the vinyl label)
